Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about JavaScript deobfuscation.

What does unminify javascript mean?
Minified JavaScript has all whitespace and line breaks removed to reduce file size. Unminifying reverses this process to restore readable, formatted code.
Is unminified code the same as the original source?
Unminifying restores formatting but cannot recover original variable names if they were shortened during minification. Use our deobfuscator for deeper recovery.
What minifiers does this tool support?
It supports output from all common minifiers including UglifyJS, Terser, ESBuild, and Closure Compiler.
Is my code sent to a server?
No. Unminifying runs in your browser with Prettier, so your code isn't uploaded. (The one exception: if your browser can't run the formatter at all, it falls back to formatting on our server.) Deobfuscation does use our server, where code runs in an isolated sandbox and is never stored.
